At Western Carolina Community Action, staff is busily working to provide quality services to over 7,000 people in need.  We believe that all people deserve respect and compassion.  Providing life changing services promotes an economically just, environmentally sustainable and inclusive community where every resident can live in dignity.   Our programs are designed to increase human capacity and give the opportunity for growth to our clients and the communities in which they live.

  • $25 purchases two cases of Ensure Plus or Glucerna liquid nutrition for a frail, elderly person.
  • $25 purchases five daily hot meals for a Transylvania County home-bound person.
  • $25 purchases one monthly bus pass and twenty tickets for public transportation to a low income or disabled rider for work, education, or daily errands.
  • $25 provides weather-stripping for an exterior door, cutting energy costs for a low income family.
  • $25 pays for 10 nutritional lunches or 19 breakfasts for Head Start and Early Head Start children.
  • $25 pays for a developmental, hearing, and vision screening for a child attending the Head Start program.
  • $50 provides for one educational field trip for 18 Head Start children.
  • $50 installs a combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector in a low income family dwelling.
  • $50 provides one round trip to and from dialysis for a wheel chair client.
  • $100 provides transportation for 15 senior citizens to the Sammy Williams Senior Center.
  • $100 provides mobile meals for an elderly person in Transylvania County for one month.
